DescriptionPermit is for parking and hiking the Kuaokala Trail or for accessing forest reserve roads via the Air Force Ka'ena Point Tracking Station.
Four-wheel drive vehicles are required on these roads. These roads basically connect the west or "Waianae" side of the Waianae mountains with the north or "Mokuleia" side of the Waianae mountains. Both roads allow four-wheel or bicycle access to Peacock Flats campgrounds, hunting areas, Kealia access road and trail, as well as the Kuaokala trail. Caution is advised while driving on these roads. Please be courteous of other users in the area. Extream or highspeed driving is not allowed and may lead to road closure. Rather than getting stuck or damaging the road, it may be better to turn around and try another day.
Know before you go! Road or campground closures can happen. For current updates check the Na Ala Hele website: hawaiitrail.hawaii.gov or call the KPSTS land line is (808) 697-4311. All Forest Reserves will be closed during Tropical Storm and Hurrican Warnings. Keep informed on weather conditions and forecasts. National Weather Service Website
